GNU/Linux is not a distribution to the best of my knowledge: it's a
label Richard Stallman has tried to attach to Linux because of the
amount of Linux founded on GNU tools. The claim is reasonable, but I
think that too few people know what it means to use it. (Kind of like
"Solaris 1.1.2").

You probably have a more recent version of Linux, such as the
RedHat version 6.0 or later. Try the 4.1beta2 code, or the 4.1beta2
RPM distribution.
