However TIFF is not a graphic format but a format for describing graphic formats, and may will include attributes to cover things like creation dates. T stands for tag and TIFF is about the tag/value pairs that describe the images much more than the actual content of the images. In particular, tools like faxinfo only look at the tag/value pairs, not the image.
