Hello! Hylafax gurus, Linux 2.0.35 (upgraded from Slackware) + Hylafax v4.0pl2 (compiled from source) + Zyxel U-2496E firmware 6.2. I have applied patches Tagline and ReduceSpeed obtained from http://www.trump.net.au/~rjc/hylafax. I have also searched and read almost all postings related to RTN problems - only the first page sent but 3 times. I am having the same problem. The modem firmware with version 6.17 had the RTN problem, too. I sent a text file of 2-page size to 4 different fax machine. Two (in house) of them correctly received it. The 3rd (in house) fax machine got the first page for 3 copies and then printed an error report with "ECM" error. The 4th fax machine got the 2 copies of the first page and 1 copy of the second page. I asked the people using the 3rd fax machine whether or not they have had any problem receiving faxes sent from other fax machine. Their answer is "NO". Below is the (well known?) log from command: sendfax -n -d <MyDestFaxNum> <MyTextFile> Aug 26 11:56:11.41: [31419]: <-- data [793] Aug 26 11:56:12.40: [31419]: SENT 32533 bytes of data Aug 26 11:56:12.40: [31419]: SEND 1D RTC Aug 26 11:56:12.40: [31419]: <-- data [9] Aug 26 11:56:12.40: [31419]: SEND end page Aug 26 11:56:12.40: [31419]: SEND send MPS (more pages, same document) Aug 26 11:56:12.40: [31419]: <-- data [2] Aug 26 11:56:23.41: [31419]: --> [5:ERROR] Aug 26 11:56:23.41: [31419]: SEND recv RTN (retrain negative) Aug 26 11:56:23.41: [31419]: <-- [23:AT+FIS=0,3,0,2,0,0,0,2\r] Aug 26 11:56:23.53: [31419]: --> [2:OK] Aug 26 11:56:23.53: [31419]: <-- [7:AT+FDT\r] Aug 26 11:56:29.25: [31419]: --> [20:+FCS:0,3,0,2,0,0,0,3] Aug 26 11:56:29.25: [31419]: --> [7:CONNECT] Aug 26 11:56:29.25: [31419]: SEND begin page Aug 26 11:56:29.25: [31419]: <-- data [1028] config.ttyS0 (generated by faxaddmodem): ModemType: Class2.0 # use class 2.0 interface ModemRate: 38400 # 38.4 works fine ModemFlowControl: rtscts # default #ModemFlowControl: xonxoff # This does not help either. Does this RTN problem belong to Zyxel 1496E modem or Hylafax, or any other component? Thank you all! CN
