Receiving problems on USR Sportster 56000s...

Latest Beta 4.1, on linux 2.2.11, happily configured and running smoothly,
configured primarily for receive operations. I have the modem in class2.0,
and setup with the various "workarounds" advocated in the config files (and
various USR Sportster Hylafax FAQ web sites I've found). I have adaptive
answer off. And I made my answer command "AT +FCLASS=2.0; A" to force FAX
modes on answer.

I notice that some fax machines cannot seem to send me faxes [one or two
Toshiba models in particular, tho I can't track down what the age or model#s
are].... I get the following in the logs:

I don't suppose anyone out there has any recommendations as to:

1) Optimal settings of the USR Sportster 56000 [flash model, external] to
have the best chance of receiving the most faxes from a variety of machines?

2) Is Class 1, 2, or 2.0 best for receiving faxes? My server is fairly
lightly loaded, and would not have latency issues responding to serial i/o
traffic. [I am to understand that Class 1 operations require more
interactivity on the part of the server].
