flexfax: Problems with Hylafax 4.0pl2

I'm running Hylafax 4.0pl2 on a PC running Unixware 7.0.1 using a
Multitech 1932ZDX modem.  It runs great most of the time.  However,
sometimes it locks up and refuses to either 1) send anything, or 2) send
successfully.  Here is the tail of a trace of an unsuccessful attempt to
send a fax:

I don't see any errors and I can't figure out what is wrong.

I also have jobs waiting to be sent that the server refuses to even try
to send.  "faxstat -s" shows the jobs, and "faxalter -p xxxx" seems to
try to push the job, however, faxq never tries to send them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
