flexfax: waiting for modem to come ready

Hi,
I am running v4.0pl1 on solaris2.5. The faxstat says "Hylafax scheduler
running: Waiting for modem to come ready". 
I am trying to set up this fax system can someone guide me and give
solution for the above problem
