Ooof. RedHat 5.1's "modemcfg" tool unfortunately does not permit
/dev/ttyS0 to be selected. Ted T'so at MIT says that /dev/cua0 is
going away soon (replacing the "split-device" trick with a single
getty handling fax, data, etc. such as HylaFAX).
