I figured it out , insufficiant  rights to the specific drive .... While 
checking on the unix server console I got annother message failing to 
create directory.
All is fixed and running .

Well, I don't think there is an obvious solution. Could you
please resubmit the question to the mailing list with details
of your operating system, ( if its Linux, the distribution as
well) with the version of HylaFAX you are trying to configure
and the whether it is a binary release or compiled from source.

It may then jog somebody's memory.
