No. The older HylaFAX releases do not necessarily operate with RedHat
5.x releases due to library changes and overlapping binary names with
the wu-ftpd software.

Hop over to http://cirl.meei.harvard.edu/hylafax for RedHat Linux
installation notes and pointers to the latest source and RPM's. This
does not address your modem question, but it could prevent some
other heartache.
