The ModemClass is a name for a set of modems, so you can send jobs to the "RedMond" modems, or the "slowspeed" modems, or the "USR" modems. The config file expects a *string* in the individual modem's config.xxxx file, not any options in the master config file. Leaving ModemClass out entirely is completely reasonable.
