As a note, I have been searching the HylaFAX archives and seen mention of the following, but haven't been able to resolve my problem below yet. ....... I am attempting to install HylaFAX on RedHat4.2/Intel and have received the following error email to root. The same info is issued in /var/log/messages. I disable the inittab line for this so that /dev/cua1 is not locked, and then run minicom and chat with the modem just fine, issuing modem or faxmodem commands with no problem. But each time I restart the system, it craps out on this error. I have tried two separate modems (they are PCMCIA cards which run fine with everything else). I have attempted to rerun faxaddmodem and every time it senses the modem and spits back that it is talking back and forth fine. It configures the modem and chatters back and forth with no problem, telling me the modem type, class type recommendation, etc. But then on system restart, it says the modem is 'wedged'. Help anyone? Anyone successfully installed HylaFAX onto a laptop using PCMCIA modems? One is a Megahertz 14.4 FaxModem and the second is a US Robotics Megahertz 56K X2. Both have run fine in all other capacities. Error message listed below. . . As a side note, I just subscribed to the flexfax list and am impressed with all the email that has already come across. I hope someone will be able to help with this. thanks, david >Date: Sun, 9 Nov 1997 14:02:56 -0700 >From: The HylaFAX Receive Agent <fax@david.santuario.com> >Subject: modem on /dev/cua1 appears wedged >The HylaFAX software thinks that there is a problem with the modem >on device /dev/cua1 that needs attention; repeated attempts to >initialize the modem have failed. >Consult the server trace logs for more information on what is happening.
