Changing of the guard

Some folks may be aware that I've been AWOL from this mailing list for
quite some time. This was a conscious decision that I made because
HylaFAX was consuming too much of my time (HylaFAX is unrelated to the
job my employer pays me to do). Since I released v4.0pl0 I've been
looking for someone to take over responsibility for the HylaFAX
software--to act as the one person in charge of changes to the master
sources. I'm pleased to announce that I've found this person:
Matthias Apitz <Matthias.Apitz@SOFTCON.de> has graciously agreed to act
as the arbiter of changes to the master source code and to generate future
source distributions. I am depending on him to coordinate bug fixes
and enhancements to the software. Matthias has been an active HylaFAX
user for quite a while and has created the SVR4 binary distributions of
HylaFAX for several years. I have confidence in his understanding of the
software and expect him to do a great job in replacing me. If you have
any bug fixes to contribute you should send them to him and not to me.
I will continue to provide binary distribution for SGI platforms.

I should also note that for the forseeable future source distributions
will continue to be made under the same terms: folks are free to do with
the source code as they please so long as the do not use my name or SGI's
name without prior written permission (I paraphrase from the copyright
notice; please consult the exact text before asking for any clarification).
Matthias may add some additional clauses to this copyright in order to
protect himself and his employer in the same way that the existing copyright
protects SGI and myself. Please be aware however that providing support
for this software takes considerable time and resources. I do not expect
Matthias, or anyone else, to support HylaFAX indefinitely without community
support. If you want to see continued free distribution of this software
you need to contribute.

	Sam
