Q.
Howto restrict outbound usage in v4.0

What should I do if I need to *mandate* the use of a specific modem for outgoing facsimilies?

Ed, if you need to *mandate* the use of a specific modem for outgoing,
I'm not sure how to handle it. You could put faxq up only on the modem
for fax and run a simple getty on the dial-in lines, although faxgetty
is very nice for re-configuring modems after use, and faxaddmodem gets
their configurations *right* (one of hylafax's nicest features, IMHO).

However, can't you just set FAXSERVER by default to be
/dev/[modem-line]@[hfaxd-host], and get most of what you want?
You could also slip a booby trip into the configuration dial-out setups
for the dial-in modems so attempts to dial-out won't work....

A more subtle way to restrict outbound usage in v4.0 is to redefine the
definition of the ``any'' modem class so that it includes on those modems
that you want users to use (consult ModemGroup in config for more info).
This would keep folks from explicitly routing outbound jobs to other modems
but it will probably handle most uses.
