[hylafax-users] faxgetty and status

I am running 6.0.4 version of hylafax
on a serial modem, MT5600DSVD

Can someone give clarification on the following:

If the modem is turned off should faxstat -s
report within a few seconds that is it 'Waiting for modem to come ready'
or is that only detected the next time the modem is requested to be used?


if after turning the modem off
if I /etc/init.d/hylafax restart

it then does report that its waiting to come ready
but shouldn't it detect this without a restart?
