Oh, sure, NOW you tell me after I come up with my own complicated method! :-)

Gonna have to look at that...

Just wanted to update on my setup. I have two Multitech MT5634ZPX-PCI-U internal modems that I purchased a couple years ago. In my previous main server, which was a dual Opteron system on a Tyan motherboard, they would wedge periodically and I'd have to cycle power. I gave up on using them and changed back to a pair of external USR Sportsters.

After I rebuilt our server when the motherboard fried, I went to try the Multitech's again - only to realize the new board didn't have spare PCI slots. So I looked to an older box to give it a try - a Pentium III on an Intel MB that has been a reliable workhorse for years for me. Put the boards in, added Hylafax+, and configured for Class 1 mode. Then got these remote scripts working to integrate with Avantfax back on the main server.

It's been a week - no wedging, no errors, no messages in the dmesg buffer - just quietly sending & receiving faxes. Dunno if Hylafax+ fixed the problems I had before, or if it was an issue with that Tyan motherboard - but it's working great now (hopefully this doesn't jinx it!)! Thanks!
