[hylafax-users] Faxmail detects pdf as ps

I am having trouble sending via faxmail from a particular smpt agent.
Faxmail seems to detect the mime base64 encoded pdf attachment as a postscript file.
I tested by diverting the email to a file (/tmp/faxemail) and feeding it to faxmail

# cat /tmp/faxemail |faxmail -vv -d XXXXXXXX

<snip>
/etc/hylafax/dialrules: line 62: ]
match against (..., 512)
rule: offset 0 string = "%!" -- success (result postscript, rule "")
<endsnip>

but if i use munpack on the same email file it correctly detects and unpacks the pdf file

# cat /tmp/faxemail |munpack
munpack: reading from standard input
00091787.PDF.1 (application/octet-stream)

I end up recieving a fax that is the text of the mime encoding.

straight to faxmail < this is the cover message I used

Content-Type: application/octet-stream; name="00091787.PDF"
Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64
Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="00091787.PDF"

I don't understand the flow of faxemail > mime decoding > sendfax? so I'm not sure where the process breaks down. if I attach a pdf in Outlook or thunderbird it sends correctly.

Any clues on how I could troubleshoot?

Pat
