Probably due to the PDFs being in color, thus when dithered they have lots of speckling all over them, and possibly also some audio problems.

* In looking over the logs, I am finding this line, and was wondering what, exactly, it means:

*MODEM set XON/XOFF/FLUSH: input interpreted, output disabled

It is a serial communications operation. It processes input and ignores output. On an iaxmodem it may very well mean nothing at all.

*The original PDF file is about 460 KB. Any ideas where else I should be looking?*

PDF size doesn't necessarily indicate anything. We'd really need to see the session log to help more.

Thanks,

Lee.
