Hi all! I'm new to HylaFax and this list. I'm having my old laptop computer (IBM R40) with a built in fax modem (Intel 82801DB-ICH4) running Ubuntu Server 9.10 ("Karmic Koala") with all the latest updates. I have installed HylaFax through aptitude, as well as smart link daemon (I believe it is called) and activated the kernel module snd_intel8x0m. The problem: if I call the number associated with my fax modem nothing happens, not even in the syslog. The phones on the same line just keep ringing (shared line). I can make it answer the call however, using "faxanswer /dev/ttySL0" then I can hear that familiar beep and noise in the calling end. I believe it is faxgetty that is responsible for answering the calls, and it runs on starting HylaFax with "/etc/init.d/hylafax start" Then running "ps aux | grep faxgetty" I see this line: "/usr/sbin/faxgetty -D ttySL0" At the same time, using "faxstat" I see this: "HylaFAX scheduler on gronlundsrv: Running Modem ttySL0 (+46xxxxxxx): Running and idle" What I want when everything works is that it should answer the call after N rings (or after a specified interval if possible), receive the fax, make it into a PDF, and mail it to a shared mailbox. I hope that someone can shed some light on this, I'll be happy to provide more information as necessary - I don't know really what to provide other than what I have given already. Cheers, Nicholas =) ____________________ HylaFAX(tm) Users Mailing List _______________________ To subscribe/unsubscribe, click http://lists.hylafax.org/cgi-bin/lsg2.cgi On UNIX: mail -s unsubscribe hylafax-users-request@xxxxxxxxxxx < /dev/null *To learn about commercial HylaFAX(tm) support, mail sales@xxxxxxxxx*
