from yesterday suddendly a great number of fax fails.

i searched the lists and i found a similar problem in this post:

http://www.hylafax.org/archive/2006-04/msg00124.php

but i dont'know how to further proceed to solve the problem.

Did you follow the advice in that earlier post and make a recording?

there is any way to analyze the file recorded by iaxmodem to understand
the orgin of the error?

Yes. You can send it to me, and I can make sense of it.

feb 19 18:28:02.04: [ 1140]: <-- [9:AT+FRH=3\r]
feb 19 18:28:02.58: [ 1140]: --> [7:CONNECT]
feb 19 18:28:02.68: [ 1140]: --> [10:NO CARRIER]
feb 19 18:28:02.68: [ 1140]: MODEM No carrier

Here iaxmodem detected V.21 HDLC and then detected carrier loss. Perhaps jitter broke up the signal.

feb 19 18:28:03.84: [ 1140]: <-- [9:AT+FRH=3\r]
feb 19 18:28:10.84: [ 1140]: --> [0:]
feb 19 18:28:10.84: [ 1140]: MODEM <Empty line>
feb 19 18:28:10.84: [ 1140]: MODEM TIMEOUT: waiting for v.21 carrier
feb 19 18:28:10.84: [ 1140]: <-- data [1]
feb 19 18:28:10.86: [ 1140]: --> [2:OK]

Here iaxmodem didn't hear any fax signal (V.21 HDLC) for 7 seconds.

feb 19 18:28:10.86: [ 1140]: DELAY 1500 ms

In HylaFAX+ 5.2.8 (http://hylafax.sourceforge.net) this delay is replaced by the modem deliberately looking for silence. This will make recovery more likely, but will also likely give us more information about any signaling that's getting missed due to dis-synchronization.

feb 19 18:28:15.46: [ 1140]: <-- [9:AT+FRH=3\r]
feb 19 18:28:22.46: [ 1140]: --> [0:]
feb 19 18:28:22.46: [ 1140]: MODEM <Empty line>
feb 19 18:28:22.46: [ 1140]: MODEM TIMEOUT: waiting for v.21 carrier
feb 19 18:28:22.46: [ 1140]: <-- data [1]
feb 19 18:28:22.48: [ 1140]: --> [2:OK]

Again, iaxmodem can't hear anything.

feb 19 18:28:27.07: [ 1140]: <-- [9:AT+FRH=3\r]
feb 19 18:28:32.54: [ 1140]: --> [10:NO CARRIER]

The call gets disconnected at this point.

feb 19 18:28:34.04: [ 1140]: <-- [9:AT+FTH=3\r]
feb 19 18:28:34.04: [ 1140]: --> [5:ERROR]

The modem at this point is already on-hook.

As a guess, I'd say that either you have a bad case of jitters or your Asterisk has now employed faxdetect somehow and is snapping the fax calls away from iaxmodem.

Thanks,

Lee.
