Re: [hylafax-users] T.30 T2 Timeout, Digital Phone Lines and Modem Speed

Just to close this issue out, I replaced the USR modem with a Multitech MT5634ZPX and I haven't had a problem since!
Thanks Brad!

Hello Brad!
Thanks for the quick reply. You reference a Multitech MT5634ZPX PCI in one of your posts. I'll check it out.
Thanks again!

I had this issue over POTS lines and it ended up being the USR modems

I've detailed the model of modem I used there.

Subject: [hylafax-users] T.30 T2 Timeout, Digital Phone Lines and Modem
Speed

Hello,
I'm a relative newbie running Hylafax 4.4.4 under Linux 5. It is
connected to a US Robotics V.92 modem, which is connected to a
residential Comcast digital phone service.
Below is a portion of the log file that happens very frequently (i.e.,
partial page transmission and then an abort with T.30 T2 timeout).
I'm searched the web and read a few
articles on the hazards of modems and digital phone service, but
haven't found a clear solution (or at least clear to me).

One of the suggestions was to slow the modem rate down. I modified
the config.ttys0 file, and changed ModemRate to 9600. I restarted
Hylafax, as well as reset the modem. When I look at the logs,
Hylafax is reporting that it's connecting at 14400. What other
settings do I need to change to force the connection to 9600 or less?

This is a residential installation, so I don't need multi-port modem
cards. Is there a single line modem alternative to my USR modem that
will play well with a digital phone connection?

For what it's worth, I had Comcast out, and they had no clue about a
possible solution. In fact, they said this was the first they ever
heard of this. Guess all those Google hits on
modems and digital phone service must be pranks! ;-)

Thanks for any and all suggestions.
