Re: [hylafax-users] frustrated... trying to run a faxserver

Title: Re: [hylafax-users] frustrated... trying to run a faxserver
If the modem is the same modem that was on the original box, the config that worked there should be fine. I am un familiar with that modem so I cant say for sure.

I dont use hylafax on debian, but look at this message:
http://www.hylafax.org/archive/2005-05/msg00184.php

the format for the inittab entry should be something like:

m:345:respawn:/sbin/faxgetty ttyS1

the "m" being some unique identifier, the 345 being the runlevels to start in.

Ok. My modem is external Zoltrix Rainbow 56, FM-VSP56e.
I had copied the file config.ttyS1 from other hylafax server here,
with SUSE (now I work on debian) and same modem model. Unfortunetely i
have no access to that suse computer anymore. And have changed the fax
number in it. I am sure that it is on ttyS1 - I can open the modem on
cutecom/minicom on this port and dial with it.

Here is the content of config.ttyS1 file :

I dont quite understand what you mean by "Third - make sure faxgetty
is running in init. Cant tell you how to do that without knowing what
distro you are using. you need to have init run "faxgetty ttyS0" and
respawn when it quits." Do I need to run 'faxgetty ttyS0' / 'faxgetty
ttyS1' ?? Distribution is debian 4.50 with gnome 2.14.3

And of course faxstat dont show what you have written, but:
"HylaFAX" scheduler on debian: Not running
Modem ttyS1 (xxxxxxxxx): Waiting for modem to come ready"

What to do ?
