Re: [hylafax-users] Customise failed fax transmission notification
Dominique
thanks for the info.
I don't have a templates directory.
I have found a file called /var/spool/hylafax/bin/dict/en
which contains the data used to build the email received after a failed
fax send.
There is also not FaxNotify script,
only notify.
Should I create a FaxNotify script then,
and will it then get used instead of notify?
thanks,
Stephen

Hello Stephen,
HylaFAX has really nice extensibility on notifications that can be used
to do exactly what you are looking for.
Basically you can create templates that are used to generate notifications
instead of the default notification email bodies, have a look here for
some information on how it works - http://www.hylafax.org/content/Handbook:Advanced_Server_Configuration:Email_Templating
You can create a FaxNotify script in the /etc/ directory of your HylaFAX
installation (/var/spool/hylafax/etc) and in there specify what templates
to use, as well as anything else to use. These templates then have
all the information that you would like to send to the user and are generated
by the notify script when appropriate.
It is probably best not to rewrite the notify and faxrcvd scripts or do
edit the default templates because there is a very good chance that these
files would be overwritten during an upgrade. Better therefore to
put all your customisated templates in thier own directory and create FaxNotify
and FaxDispatch files to handle all your customisations.
There are some example templates that can be found here http://people.ifax.com/~aidan/hylafax/templates/
which should help you quite a lot.
We are using this and it works very well.
Good luck
Dominique

I'd like to customise the failed fax email notification.
What I'd like is that when a user receives a failed transmission email,
the email has a clickable hyperlink that takes them to a webpage showing
their document, allowing them to resend,
The standard email that is received is fine, except I'd like to put an
additional bit of info at the top i.e. the hyperlink.
Is this possible without rewriting notify too much?
thanks,
Stephen
