Thanks for the suggestion.

But I really do not feel qualified to tackle the issue and
it wouldn't be fair either to myself or to the developers if
I began to experiment in unfamiliar territory.

You should direct these suggestions to the more qualified
folks at linux-usb at vger dot kernel dot org.

As a user, I was just trying to make the developers -- and
HylaFAX users -- aware that there may be a problem.  Now that
things have been acknowledged, I should just step back and
let others handle the affair.
