[hylafax-users] What fax modem to use with Hylafax considering the much reduced offer lately

Hello everyone.

 

I'm new to the list and I'm here to ask the question in the subject line (what fax modem to use with Hylafax considering the much reduced offer lately). To start with I did read the archive and I'm very aware this question has been asked many times before. I also googled and did find pages like this one: http://www.etsimo.uniovi.es/hylafax/modems.php giving a list of modems that work with the Hylafax server. The problem is I'm having a *very* hard time finding *any* external modems lately, probably because no one's using modems for dial up lately!

 

I've found the following modems on sale at some shops:

(1) Generic US Robotics "56K* V.92 External Faxmodem"

(2) Modem US Robotics Message 56K, V.92

(3) Modem extern US Robotics Courier 56K, V.92

(4) Zyxel omni 56k

 

Unfortunately reading in the mailing list archive and on the page I linked above, none of this seems any good. The US Robotics seem the worst and the only page I found on the Zyxel was detailing errors.

 

Can you give me any recommendation on the modem? Am I worrying for nothing? Please note I want a modem that would work at least as well as my Canon fax.
