What does the output of 'faxstat' say exactly? Does it list the modem and say it's ready and idle? Have you tried using an alternative method to send a fax (e.g. Command line)? Do you have a job log under the /var/spool/hylafax/log dir?
Thanks!
S.

Are you running faxgetty on that modem? If not, you should be - it's the
easiest way to make sure the modem is configured for outbound use.

Subject: [hylafax-users] newbie
Dear all,
I am a newbie and have a question. I just installed a hylafax v. 4.4.4 on FC
8. I check with faxstat, the hyla is running. I tried to send a fax using
WHFC (Hylafax client for windows). The fax was sent into queue (I knew this
from checking on /var/spool/hylafax/sendq). The problem is the modem does
not dial at all to send the fax.
I have checked the FAQ on the hyla site, I did everything in there, the
modem still does not dial.
I am using an external 56K data/fax/voice modem. Please tell me what causing
this problem and how to solve it. If you guys need more information, I will
be happy to tell you.
I am looking forward to a favorable reply from you. Thank you.
