[hylafax-users] PDF conversions to PS with embedded images

Hi All,

I am wondering if anyone else on the list has come across this issue and
a possible resolution.

When submitting a pdf with embeded images the ghostscript application
fails the conversion between pdf and postscript.

If I submit a postscript document then the message is accepted but fails
on the transmission of the document.

I created the pdf document by installing the free BullZip PDF Printer:

http://www.bullzip.com/products/pdf/info.php

I then created a document in M$ Word 2003 where I inserted 2 random
images and then printed the document to the pdf printer. This document
is attached as "embedded_images.pdf".

I created the postscript document by installing the "HP LaserJet 2100
Series PS" printer driver included with M$ Windows and directing this
driver to print to file.

I then printed the same M$ Word 2003 document to this postscript printer
which is attached as "embedded_images.ps".

For me to successfully submit the postscript document to HylaFAX+
5.1.10, I had to update the typerules file to include the following line:

104 string %! ps

When the pdf document is submitted for faxing HylaFAX+ returns the
following error:

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Your facsimile job to NUMBER was not sent because document conversion
to facsimile failed. The output from the converter program was:

Check any PostScript documents for non-standard fonts and invalid constructs

------------------------------------------------------------------------

When I submit the postscript version of the document, i get the
following error:

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Your facsimile job to NUMBER failed because:
    <no reason recorded>

How does everyone else out there handle these types of documents? Am I
missing something here, or is this a know problem?

If you need any additional information, please dont hesitate to ask :)

Any comments/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Bruce
