Re: [hylafax-users] receive fax problems - modem does not pickup

Hi Stephen,

With Minicom open call the modem and when you hear the ‘ring’ on the phone type ATA <cr> to manually answer the call.  Does it pick up the call ?

If ATA does not pick up the call then try putting a analog phone on the same line as the modem..... can you hear the phone ring when you call ?  If not, are you sure the number is correct ?

If ATA does pick up the call then read the USR manual to see if it’s possible to disable ‘ring’.  Here’s a link which might help;

http://www.usr.com/support/3453/3453-command-ref/chap%208-controlling%20EIA-232.htm

Which country are you located in ?  Is this modem model approved for your country ?  Do you have lots of other devices on the line ?

Regards

When I pull up minicom set for ttyS2 the modem is initialized and I can dial out. I do not see "ring" anywhere on the screen.

Minicom output:

Hello Everyone,

I am working on a two modem setup that sends and receives faxes. I can send faxes without any issues, but I have not been able to configure the receive to work correctly.
When I fax to the number the modem does not pickup, I have tried calling the line as well and it just rings.

I am running RHEL 5 x86_64 and I installed the binary rpm from the hylafax website.

Initially I was having issues with the modem waiting to come ready or free, but I was able to reset it and it seems to be fine.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Stephen
