I'd recommend giving HylaFAX-4.4.1 a try - faxmail was changed very 
significantly in the 4.4.x branch to help handle multiple attachments just 
as easily as HylaFAX handles them from the sendfax commandline. There's no 
postscript hackery going on at all really, and the results are much more 
predictable.
