I can tell you from my experience with a US Robotics modem. I've got 5 USR 805631A modems hooked to hylafax (configured as Class 2). They all seem to work fine for sending and receiving faxes.
This is seperate from my enquiry about v.34 fax modems...
I'm thinking of replacing one of my reliable GVC modems with a later model 3com that supports caller line ID.
I have a 56k Dynalink here that supports CID, it is crap. Advice- never, ever buy / use Dynalink.
I was thinking of a 3 com / USR external like the following- http://tinyurl.com/36kdke (A home user style external serial port)
