Re: [hylafax-users] [hylafax-devel] Re: Answering voice / fax / data calls using fclass=+8 and tone sensing (feature request)

Then some hacker working on mgetty/vgetty really screwed up then.
From /etc/mgetty+sendfax/voice.conf
#
# In Australia the frequency of the busy signal is the same as the
# frequency of the fax calling tone. This causes problems on at least
# some modems. They report a fax calling tone, when there is a busy
# signal in reality. To help those user, vgetty will ignore any fax
# calling tone detected by the modem, when this option is set.
#
# The following companys suffer from this problem:
# - Telstra (formerly Telecom Australia)
# - Optus
# - Austel (regulatory authority)
#
# The default is of course off.
#

ignore_fax_dle false

What Andrew and lee are saying about the calling tones are correct. I
put them into a Linksys ATA the other day. I just didn't know the
frequency for the fax calling tone.

As for the crash, when doing answer rotary hylafax doesn't check DCD
to see if the modem is still on hook. So after the user has hung up,
the modem stays on hook and attempts to answer the fax. This isn't a
major issue because more work should be done not to have a modem
trying to answer a fax when there is a busy tone in the first place ;)
+FCLASS=8 after entering it will detect silence, bong tone's and busy
tones and report them to hylafax once or more after entering voice
mode.

Cheers,

Luke

Well, fax CNG per T.30 is 1100 Hz on for 0.5 s off for 3.0 sec.
Tolerance is +/- 38 Hz. So I would most certainly say that if a modem
detects an Aussie busy tone as a fax calling tone, then the modem is in
error.
