[hylafax-users] HylaFAX v4.3.2 cannot initialize multiTech modem

Hi,

I installed HylaFAX v4.3.2 on Gentoo/Linux.
I have a Multitech MT5600ZDX attached to the PC via serial cable on
COM1 (ttyS0).

First I made sure the that the modem was working, I used minicom to
connect to the serial modem and run a few commands. The output below:
--
ATZ
OK
ATI3
V2.200F-V90_2M_DLS

OK
ATI4
a007840284C6002F

bC60000000

r1005111151012000

r3000111170000000

OK
AT+FCLASS=?
0,1,2,1.0

OK
ATH
OK
---

I also checked the status of my serial ports using the "setserial"
command and this is the output:
--
/dev/ttyS0, Line 0, UART: 16450, Port: 0x03f8, IRQ: 4
	Baud_base: 115200, close_delay: 50, divisor: 0
	closing_wait: 3000
	Flags: spd_normal skip_test
--

Everything seems normal to me.

now when I start HylaFAX server and when it trys to open the modem,
this is comming from the line in my /etc/inittab where it calls
faxgetty /dev/ttyS0, It keeps giving me an error message that it can't
initialize the modem and that it is wedged.

And this just keeps going and going. Is there something I am missing
from a HylaFAX config file ? I noticed some people have a
"config.ttyS0" file but I don't know how they got that or if I need
that. I setup up hylaFAX as documented in the docs. Using the faxsetup
program.

Anyone got any ideas or help on this topic?
Regards
