Thanks for trying out the beta on solaris x86 - the more platforms and 
languages get tested the better!

libport.a is built earlier in the compilation, and _SHOULD_ already be there 
for you. A careful examination of the build log prior to this point will 
probably reveal some other failure which is the real source of the problem. 
A complete build log would probably be much more informative.
