[hylafax-users] Hylafax Mail Agent for The Security Obsessed -- Advice sought

With the help of the great Hylafax Master Lee Howard I have run Hylafax trouble free for the last six years.  It has reliably sent all the faxes on our small 7 pc linux lan.  However, until now that LAN has been closed to the outside world ( no connection to the internet ).  I would be content to stay that way -- as we use disconnected ( non lan ) pcs to send email and surf the web.  In fact, one could argue that our small little private network does not need the outside world.  Nevertheless, there is an increasing demand that some of our faxes be received as email.  So I ask what is the most secure way? 1) Hook up the hylafax sever to the internet behind our router and send the emails that way?  or 2) Set up a mail server like qmail and bounce the files over to the mail server so that they can be sent that way?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Richard
