I have just compiled HylaFax 4.3.0 on Solaris 9. Once I got the patch for Solaris DSO it all seemed to be working great! I am trying to replace our old 4.1.6 server. However, FaxGetty and my modem do not seem to be getting along. I have attached the logs from faxgetty. I was able to send a fax without problems. I then just dialed the number and faxgetty answered. However, it then reported that the modem was wedged and it could not initialize it. The modem is attached to a SunFire V240 on cua/b and configured as a class 1 modem.

Any suggestions on how to try and figure out why the modem does not respond properly?

Ok,

I got an offline reply to this that made a request for me to try using 4.3.1rc2. I downloaded the latest 4.3.1 BETA I could find. It built without problems on my Sol 9 with Sun's Workshop 11 compilers with the DSO turn on. This is great news.

It was also suggested that I try various speeds other than the 19200 suggested by faxaddmodem. I tried 19200, 38400, and 57600 as speeds to communicate to the modem with. They all have the same effect.

Lastly, it was suggested that I check the Solaris specific serial settings. This really has me stumped. I am not sure of ANY specific settings that I have ever had to set with hylafax on Solaris. Any hints?

Also, the bottom line that I can tell thus far is this. FaxGetty tries to re-initialize the modem after sending a fax and times out. It sends a message saying that the modem may be wedged. HOWEVER, I still seem to be able to queue and send another fax and when I dial the fax number it seems to answer.

I am REALLY annoyed by the wedged emails and I do not want to just turn them off. I am ready and willing to do what ever debugging I can if someone can point me in the right direction.

Hylafax 4.3.1rc1 from 11/09/2006
SunFire V240
Solaris 9 with recent recommended patch cluster
