I think that we ended up (some time ago) abandoning the "fax user" altogether in lieu of simply using uucp on UNIXes where a uucp user existed. The documenation which you're reading was written at an earlier time when HylaFAX deliberately attempted to set up a "fax" user on every installation. (I'm not sure how to properly reword the documenation now, though, to make it better.)


So most likely your case is that the uucp user is the "fax user".
