Re: [hylafax-users] identifier string = iaxmodem callerid?

I have 3 different identifier strings. Each time I

extension I have specified have all the same names :)
before testing it and wasting ink foil, maybe someone
can tell me here, what it exactly is.

Is there a possibility to change the identifier string
dynamicly, everytime I send a fax? If not then I just
need to what the identifier string eventuelly is?

The "tagline" is created by default using the LocalIdentifier setting for the modem. You can manipulate the tagline to produce the desired result. There are many ways that you could do this.

Probably the most straight-forward, perhaps blunt, way of of doing this would be to have your client submit the TAGLINE parameter. With sendfax you do this with the -F option.

If you're not using sendfax or you don't have control of the client program or usage then it may be best to set LocalIdentifier with JobControl based on the user.

If you control the client program or usage and you want to have not only the tagline dynamically changed but also the actual Caller*ID (since you're using iaxmodem) passed up to the PBX you can also use newer releases of HylaFAX+ which has a ModemSetOriginCmd feature along with support for submitting FAXNUMBER and FAXNAME from the client program (sendfax). If I remember right, a FAXNUMBER setting from the client has a greater weight than the LocalIdentifier configuration option, and thus that will get used instead.
