Re: [hylafax-users] Inexpensive Modem suggestions

We have a Hyla server (IBM eServer, RHAT ES), sending about 30,000 pages
per month. Runs 4 of the multitech usb external modems. I have an
outboard (powered) usb 2.0 hub that they plug into. I have had no problems
relating to the modems. Work like a champ.

Good Luck,

Ray

Hi Jay,

We had very poor reliability when using multiple USB modems. Historically,
we tested both 'software' and 'hardware' USB products and had lots of
system
dependencies (most of our testing was conducted with Windows platforms
because at the time Linux support was sketchy).

If this is a business critical application I would suggest that you invest
in some decent hardware.

Subject: [hylafax-users] Inexpensive Modem suggestions

Hi,

I'd like to setup a HylaFAX with multiple modems, between 2 and 4. I'm
looking for an inexpensive internal PCI modem or external USB modem.

I'd think this info would be all over the mailing list or web page, but I
can find it. Mostly people talk about Multitech Multimodems, but those are
fairly expensive, and not sold at my general store.

I'm going to be using this HylaFAX for inbound faxes only.

As I understand from reading the archives, you can only have a single
Linmodem per machine. Is this correct?

Any suggestions, ideas, help would be greatly appreciated

Thank you,
Jay
