I wouldn't recommend either.  If you want something cheap and reliable,
your best bet is a set of cheap RS232 modems -- they don't even have to
match.

This is probably one too many; my brief experiments with Linmodems proved
them capable of seizing the entire kernel.  I definitely wouldn't bother.

I'd recommend a trek through eBay for external RS232 fax modems, along
with a supplemental serial card (the SIIG's are nice.)
