It may help to see the full log.  But you may want to try a different modem.

For some reason the data as sent from the sender is getting corrupted 
somewhere between there and HylaFAX.  It could be audio distortion on 
the phone lines or PBXes, or it could be a broken demodulator in the 
modem itself.
