Do you mean the first few lines of text?

Is it possible that you're not specifying the correct page-size in the 
fax submission?  For example, if you're using sendfax are you using the 
"sendfax -s" option at all?  Otherwise the page-size setting is left up 
to the system defaults.  So if you have an A4 document but submit it and 
somehow the server thinks that you want to use US-letter page size, then 
it will cut off a half-inch... usually off of the top (because 
Postscript coordinates are bottom-up).
