Re: [hylafax-users] Question about dialling attempts

What is the difference between calls and dials?

I think that you mean between calls and tries. A call occurs when the modem dials a number. A try occurs when a connection with the remote is made (after the call occurs).

Futhermore, why does hylafax appear to try twice with
"-t 1"

failed because... No carrier detected
Dials: 2 (consecutive failed calls to destination)
Calls: 2 (total phone calls placed)

Because it may have gotten a BUSY or NO CARRIER response on them. If you want to limit the number of calls placed used "-T 1".
