Currently installing HylaFAX on a FreeBSD 5.4 machine and ran into, what appears to be, a relatively minor conflict with a previously installed mgetty+sendfax. There were several recommendations presented my members of the mailing list, which should resolve the issue but I wonder if there is any real advantage to keeping mgetty+sendfax on my system at all. I'm especially concerned about possibility of future problems with mgetty+sendfax. I have little expertise in this area.

If you use HylaFAX then there's absolutely no need for the "sendfax" part of mgetty+sendfax. However, keeping the mgetty part of it around may be useful if you ever plan to permit dial-in access to your system.
