Re: [hylafax-users] new community site

I'm only a listener on this forum who is looking for tips and tricks and
solutions on my HylaFAX product, so my comments may mean nothing to anyone
but myself... and maybe not even much to me. ;)

I love HylaFAX as a product, but it seems that politics have taken over.
In saying that I am not taking sides because I realize that there are always
three sides to every story (yours, mine, and somewhere in the middle is the
truth unmarred by our perceptions).
Because I don't know the facts of all of this discussion, I'll refrain from
even attempting to take sides.

I am however a user of a product that many people have helped with, had
hands in, spent time on, etc.
I enjoy that product.
What I don't enjoy is the number of emails that I have received on a daily
basis because of the political environment that has now crawled to the
surface.

I know that both sides will feel justified in responding to me to either win
me over to their side or to defend their position of why this topic has to
go on for so long. May I be frank? I don't really care all that much, so I'm
not going to spend much more time with it.

However, may I make a plea to both sides?
Can this topic be discussed outside of this forum?
Is that too much to ask now that it has gone back and forth for so long and
no resolution seems to be forthcoming?
I doubt that I speak only for myself; though my voice is the only one I
would lay claim to.
Yes, I know that this forum is intended for all things HylaFAX. And, you may
decide that this includes all of this political crap along with all the
other stuff. And, if you decide that then you won't get any argument from
me. I'll simply unsubscribe to the list. No, I don't think this will hurt
your feelings in the least. In the short-term it will only hurt me because I
won't be able to see the other topics that go into this forum. In the
long-term may I suggest that it, along with many others who may also be
unsubscribing or considering it for their own reasons, may hurt HylaFAX
after all only to the degree that we may find ourselves out looking for
another solution.

Yes, I realize that all "companies" (feel free to include OSS development
teams here) end up having political debates from time to time. I just don't
happen to agree that one without a resolution should go on for so long to
the detriment of what everyone else on this list is actually looking for.

So, there's my rant... if you choose to call it that... and my request to
find a way to play nicely in the sandbox with everyone else or at least get
out of the sandbox and have your fight behind the tree where no one else has
to deal with it.

Flame on... I can take it... until I unsubscribe... then... well... flame on
more I suppose.

Cheers.

And, thank you to all who kindly deleted this email realizing that it wasn't
intended for them anyway and was just one more email on this topic that they
had to put up with.
