Hi Kite. The 536ep is a controller less 'winmodem'. As far as I'm aware the only winmodem driver which supports multiple instances is the linuxant driver (http://www.linuxant.com/) but this only supports conexant modems at V.17 rates. For a definitive answer about your modem I would suggest that you ask your question on the linmodems mailing list (http://www.linmodems.org/). Obviously, I'm going to suggest that you purchase a full hardware multiport modem for this type of application..... but then I am a little biased ! Sorry that this is actually not a question for hylafax, but for the modems it uses. I have an intel 536ep based pci modem. It works fine with official driver from intel. After driver installation, I do the following to setup device name. ================================ insmod -f /lib/modules/2.6.10/kernel/drivers/char/Intel536.ko mknod /dev/536ep c 240 1 ================================ The device to be used is /dev/536ep then. My question is: If I need to setup more than one same modem under ONE system (so that I can get the best out of hylafax :)), what steps should I take to create the corresponding devices correctly? Perhaps I need only to change the parameter of mknod? If yes, what decides the correct parameter? I think users on this list should counter the same question, but I cannot find the answer from the mailinglist archive. Any pointer will be helpful to me. Thanks.
