It seems that
ModemFlowControl:       rtscts
helps here. I'm trying to reproduce the problem with some windows+winmodem 
machine as the other side fix and with rtscts it doesn't seem to happen (it 
happened without rtscts in this setup). I'll check tommorow what's the result 
for Panasonic fax I used before.

Also it recently started logging errors like:
Apr 26 20:07:27 exploder3 FaxSend[403]: Error writing SEND accounting record, 
dest=3738970
but this doesn't seem critical.
