Distinctive ring has been supported by HylaFAX for many years.  The 
modem must also support it, though.

Older modems reported distinctive ring differently than new models.  
Specific support for the new reporting style was included in the 4.2.1 
release.  Read 'man hylafax-config' and look at the various items 
discussing distinctive ring.
