I'm fairly sure that there were no PAM-related changes between 4.2.0 
and 4.2.1.  However, the general indication on

  http://bugs.hylafax.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=614

is that the problem was with some default winbind configuration found 
on Fedora.  Did you perhaps have some updates applied to the system 
other than HylaFAX?
