[hylafax-users] Question about Hylafax's constant initialization of modems

HI!

I'm new to this list and joined because I have a problem. We built a
fax server to be used mainly for incoming faxes. We are using Hylafax
with a Hayes Century 16 (16 rack-mounted modems) on SuSE 9.1.

The problem I have is that at any given time, when I run faxstat, I
will see a number of modems in the "Listening to rings from modem"
state when there is no incoming call, or in the "waiting for modem to
come ready" state when no reset has been performed and it was "running
and idle" mere seconds before. A glance at the modem rack reveals many
"blinky" lights and some modems have the Auto Answer light on.
Eventually everything will settle down and all will be well for a few
minutes until all this happens again.

It seems that when all this is happening, some of the modems will
still accept faxes and some will not.

Does anybody have any idea what might be going on and what might be
done to correct it?

Thanks,
