I just created a patch and reported a bug for Debian.
You can find the bug report in

I don't include it here, you (and everybody who wants to have it) can  
download it from the Debian bug tracking system.
File size of the patch is 2345 bytes.

Attention!
I tested this patch with only one successful manual call to notify.
Use at your own risk.
