I'm sending my answer to the list too, in the hope that someone may want add their contribution too ;-). Any modem with (latest?) Rockwell chipset would be fine. But at the top of the list you have MultiTech, because they are good and you have a nice guy who work there who is subscribed to the list. Zoom it's a good choice too, probably at the same level of Multitech. The old Diamonds, if you could find them, are nice too. Brands to avoid for now: Zyxel, Askey, GVC, LighSpeed, Wellmodem,etc,etc. Zyxel because their firmware it's a bit strange and because they use Topic chipset like the others. For now, HylaFAX don't behave well with the Topic chiptset without applying a patch to the code. And of course, think the windmodems are the devil ;-).
